Prior to joing Meriturn Partners in 2003, Mr. Russo spent 13 years in management,
corporate recovery, and accounting positions. Most recently, he was
the General Manager of a software business unit at Nortel Networks
(NYSE: NT).
As a General Manager at Nortel, Mr. Russo was responsible for all
business operations for software products targeted at the telecom
service provider market (e.g. Sprint, Verizon). In this capacity,
Mr. Russo managed product development, marketing, sales, and customer
service. While Mr. Russo managed the business, revenue grew 50% and
EBIT doubled. At Nortel, Mr. Russo also managed a team which developed
and maintained the strategic plan for a new product line with over
$500 million in R&D expenses, was a member of the team which
introduced and launched the Spectrum Peripheral Module (a product
with $1 billion of first year sales), and developed and implemented
a plan to improve the manufacturing of wireless PCS radios, doubling
weekly throughput.
Prior to joining Nortel, Mr. Russo worked in the Los Angeles office
of Price Waterhouse, now PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC). While with
PWC, Mr. Russo consulted on bankruptcies, accountant malpractice
cases, and various middle-market business engagements. Mr. Russo's
Chapter 11 bankruptcy experience includes consulting to the unsecured
creditors' committee of the House of Fabrics (retail), and to the
debtor-in-possession of the Pacesetter Companies (real estate).
Mr. Russo is a certified public accountant (CPA) licensed in both
California and North Carolina. Mr. Russo earned a BA in Economics-Business
from the University of California at Los Angeles and an MBA from
the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
