Prior to working with Meriturn Partners, Mr. Garcia spent the last twelve years in a number of finance, product development and general management roles. Most recently he was a General Manager and Publisher for Internet initiatives at McGraw-Hill, a Fortune 500 publisher.
As General Manager at McGraw-Hill Mr. Garcia was responsible for all business operations for McGraw-Hill’s Internet portal Construction.com were he managed sales, product management, business development, and editorial content development. During Mr. Garcia’s tenure, he grew Construction.com’s revenues to $10 million within two years of its launch due to a number of successful sales and product development initiatives. Recently, Forbes magazine awarded Construction.com its coveted “Best of the Internet” award for the second consecutive year as a leading web site serving the commercial construction market. In addition to his contributions to Construction.com, Mr. Garcia led a number of other successful Internet initiatives within McGraw-Hill’s other publishing businesses. Through these initiatives Mr. Garcia gained significant experience growing revenues for a wide range of publishing businesses that included: catalogs, national magazines, local newspapers, and subscription databases.
Prior to joining McGraw-Hill, Mr. Garcia worked in Business Development for the Fortune 500 manufacturer, FMC. While at FMC, Mr. Garcia led several M&A and new product development projects. Prior to business school, Mr. Garcia worked at Merrill Lynch in their Investment Banking Group as a financial analyst.
Mr. Garcia earned an A.B. in Economics at Occidental College and an M.B.A from Harvard Business School.
